Quick NOOB HDTV question

Hey all. I just got a job at Best Buy and the discount is awesome. So for my first purchase I am gonna buy a HDTV. My only question is, is that all I need? Do all channels that offer HD(like ESPN) for free? Or do I have to have a dish or something? Thanx

ESPN is a cable network.... so you need cable or DirecTV or Dish or something. The same goes for HBO, Showtime, Discovery, etc.

The discount at Best Buy is the price they buy it for + 5% of that price.....

If you have local stations broadcasting in HD, then you need a tv with the ATSC tuner built in and a UHF antenna.

The Insignias are pretty crappy, thats why they give you a better discount, plus I believe Best Buy owns the Insignia brand. Spend a little more money and get a LG or Samsung if you only want a tube HDTV.

i beleave if your tv has an hd tuner all you really need is an hd cable box. Which direct tv and comcast have, comcasts is 15 bux a month for an hd box with tivo thingy with it. And jus for a plain hd box its 5. but do not buy an insignia tv you will regret it. Horrible tv and extremly poorly made. Save up for an lg or a mitsubishi if best buy sell them
