Quick amp/sub question (probably easy to answer)

So im running my two MTX 451204s (weak i know) with a mono profile AP1000M. My subs are 4 ohm SVC 225W RMS, and the amp is putting out 500W X 1 @ 2 ohms RMS. am i doing any harm by running each sub 25W over? i think i read underworking the sub is worse for it than slightly overworking it, but just wanted to get it clear. This might not even be an issue because the amp may not actually be putting out 500W even though it is rated that, but i just wanted to make sure. and as you probably already guessed by the nature of this question, i am a newb

First off. Underpowering subs won't hurt them.

And going 25 watts over won't make any difference than running them at exactly 500rms.
