I was thinking... I had a Bxi1606D for an amp, but with the stock electrical system I had a hard time tuning it and having it go into protect. My L7 was just eating that amp alive. Could I up to a 2610D and have easier capabilities.

In lame terms, can I up my amp to a 2610D and have an eaiser time running a L7 with a stock electrical system? Without the amp going into protect?

what does your stock electrical look like? I ran a 1608 on a like 85 amp alt on my old daewoo for a bit before i added another alt. but the amp never went into protect, my voltage would drop like a civ though.

I have a 220. A werid problem I had with my amp was I'd get minimal output with the gain turned almost the whole way up. I didn't max it out, my L7 didn't start moving untill I turned up the bass boost 1/4 way up. It did it the first day I bought it. Ran it like that for 5yrs.. It still puzzles me to this day. My amp before that (Hifi BX1500D) worked fine, I turned the gain up 1/8 of the way and it slammed.

hm, thats odd. With a 220amp alt...you should be completely fine with a 1608. It seems there is something fishy with the amp...or something is hooked up wrong. You have the sub hooked up to the amp right, like seeing the right ohm load?

Yeah, I was running the sub at 1ohm I triple checked the wiring. The amp is gone now, it crapped out. It was a BXi1606. It was the first year that amp came out in like 06. I was running 4ga wire. Would 4ga starve that amp?

I am running a BXI1508d at 1ohm on a stock 102amp alt, no big 3 and only 4ga power. Have never had it go into protect, or even got hot for that matter...However, those 25th anniversary Brutus are kinda fishy. The 1508 is basically a 1208. It has only 1 80amp fuse, where as the 1608 has 2 80 amp fuses. Same with the 1908d, that is essentially a 1608d, and I think they have a 2408d, which is essentially a 2008d. They only did that on the 25th anny line. So what Im saying, is that Im basically running a 1208d and have had no issues, other than voltage drops. Never under high 12s tho
