If I glass my entire trunk so that the subs are pretty much air sealed from the cab, what kind of loss in SPL will I get? I'm unhappy with my current enclosure. It's way too small. Turned out to not be anywhere near 7.5 cubes and I just took out the crappy 4 inch port and did a 10 x 6 inch slot. It's a lot louder but due to cancellation or something I lose nearly all output when the trunk is closed. I'm probably hitting low 140s with the trunk open and in the wrong size box. I can't wait to put these SXs in the right enclosure with the port on the same plane as the sub instead of 180 degrees off. I'm expecting to hit 150 daily w/ music. That is, if glassing the trunk doesn't kill that theroy.

I know it's high but based off of what it sounds like now with the trunk open and in the wrong box I don't think its completely impossible. I'm sure you know that the difference an enclosure makes can be 20 dBs going from a shitty box to a properly built and tuned box. The guy that installed it calls himself a "form over function" installer. Wish I would have know that to begin with. The trunk looks amazing but I'd rather an unfinished wood box and wires everywhere if it worked the way I wanted it to.

All I've been doing is listening to music so far (no burps yet). Of course right now I have to do it in a parking lot because my trunk has to be open. It's loud right now and I think once i get the right box I'll be wangin.

I don't quite understand the question I guess. You want to completely seal your trunk, And your subs will be in the trunk ? You will have seriously reduced output in the passenger compartment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeah basically have so much fiberglass in the trunk that there is not any airway between the trunk and the cab. tell me ill lose a lot of output and ill change my plans and cut out the back seat. forward fire the subs and port. amp rack in the *** of the seat. im gonna invert too so i can look cool and gain 3 dBs. lol

Remove the seat then. Glassing the trunk airtight, and leaving the subs will do more harm than good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
