question on old Alpine features (CDA-7862)

I have an Alpine that's a few years old, the CDA-7862) and I was wondering about some of the features it has.

1. What exactly is the BBE feature. The manual says it corrects the phase distortion inharited from speakers. To my ears, all it does is make the music louder. Sort of like the "Loud" feature. But the deck also has the "loud" feature which I set to off because that's what I'm supposed to do. But should I set the BBE feature off too?

2. I can also adjust the Bass Frequency and Bass Bandwidth on this deck. I have a 12" SI Mag in a 2.5 ft^2 box tuned to 33Hz and a 880W Massive amp for my bass. The deck lets me choose from 60Hz, 70Hz, 80Hz, 90Hz...., to 180Hz. This is supposed to "emphisize the displayed bass freq". What exactly does this mean and what freq should I set it to? The default is 80Hz. Also the Bass Bandwidth from Wide to Narrow (Wide1 to Wide4 on the deck) I have no clue about this. So what should I set it too?

Thanks
