Today i got my subs wired up. I took it to a audio shop and they did it. I have the 1242 type r's. They said they wired each woofer to see a 2 ohm load. I dindt think that was possible if they are dual 4's. He said this is best for the break in time. About how many watts per sub would i be getting if he did that? i have a directed 1100 . 1

My lights dim when ever the bass hits tho. Im thinking about doing the big 3. That should be where i should start to fix that problem right?

Well, assuming they're wired to present a final 1ohm load on the amplifier you should be receiving 1100w from the amp. Wiring each subwoofer's coils in parallel = 2ohm load per woofer. Wire those in parallel and you have a 1ohm load.

Though I have no idea WTF they are talking about "best for the break in time" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Ignore that little tid bit of info they gave you.......

That's a step in the right direction. Doubtful it will cure the problem, however.

So im not getting a 2 ohm load on each sub? so im getting less watts than a 2 ohm load would be.

If they wired the subs in parallel they'd be wired to a 1ohm final impedance, which is the lowest impedance 1) you can wire those subs to, and 2) the lowest impedance the amplifier can handle.

You'd be receiving maximum output from your amplifier. 550w to each sub, 1100w total.

there may be two sets of terminals on the amp.. but don't let that fool you into thinking there are two channels. Those two barrier strips are bridged internally. so however you hook the sub up.. it will present a 1 ohm load (either way he gave you)

they probaby wired each woofer to two ohms then put them together to make a final ohm load of 1 ohm at your amp.
Thats what he told me because he said all he has to do is put them together and then it will be wired at a final 1 ohm. So if it isint wired at 1 ohm right now what would it be? 4ohm?
