Question on my onstar and putting a AHU...

If I have onstar, and I want to put my pioneer unit plus my amp and subs can I do it? This adapter http://www.crutchfield.com/S-0nd5rOIOmAJ/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=751&i=120OSLAN01&search=onstar&tp=3486 is supposed to be used for a aftermarket hu, but not an amplified system.....does that mean I can't use my onstar anymore? OR can I get this put my HU on and my amp, compenent speakers and sub and have my onstar still working?

i dont consider myself to be a genius by any means but even were i not someone who already knew the answer to this question clicking the link and reading the title at the top of the browser says it all..."Onstar integration retains factory onstar and door chime

Did you read that note right below that link you were talking about? Doesn't that mean that the system will not work with an amplified system that I PLAN to istall? I'm no genious either, thats why i'm asking for help.

let me ask you a question, when you install the aftermarket hu whats stopping you from hooking your rca jacks to the hu and run them to the amp(s) and run new wire to your comps and just hook the sub(s) to the sub-amp? or am I missing something here after all with the adapter that takes care of the Onstar function right?

that`s what I kinda figured it was talking about, becuase with an After market system you just bypass the restrictions that a factory systems(amps) would have. just think it out and keep it simple.

The GMOS-LAN-01 will not work with Bose systems

you can run after market speaker and amps. and what I used to do was install a single speaker thats wired to the adapter for the onstar voice..

only downfall to that is that single speaker plays with the music to,but you can put a toggle switch in line with that speaker and cut it on just when you want to use onstar.

, iirc the only reason the module wont "work" with the bose system, is because there will be no sound out of the speakers.

you just bypass it and add your own speaker.
