Question on Different box design types.

I have only built sealed and slot port boxes. A question I've been wanting to ask for a while to boost my own knowledge, is what do different box types do to affect the sound produce? Such as T-Line boxes, bandpass boxes, Subs facing each other in the box design??? not sure what it's called. Are slot port and aero port boxes the main designs used for spl? If you understand what I'm asking and can answer me whether briefly or extensivly, the input is appreciated greatly.
