Yes so I just bought a pair of the rockford fosgate P1L-210 subs. I was wondering what was the minimum amout of wattage amp I would need to run these subs. I have a 600 watt amp right now... So I guess my question is can I run the subs with this 600 watt amp... The guy at the store I bought the subs at said I should buy a new amp and I am going to but I want to listen to the subs now... So if I can run ths subs on the 600 watt amp then I will until payday when I an acquire the amp the guy from the store suggested to me.

Looking at the link, 300rms each on the subs, so a 600 watt rms amp would be perfect for them. Why would you want a different amp?

just out of curiousity, what 600 watt amp do you have? I'm supposing its a 600watt MAX amp, which would usually run 300rms..

btw, please tell me you didnt buy the subs already mounted in that prefab box....if so, waste of money IMO...custom built boxes always do better.

I don't WANT a different amp... The guy at the store suggested I get a different amp...

I have some old rockford amp... I don;t believe it is expensive... It came with the car so I am not sure... All I know is it says 600 watts on it.

Sorry to tell you but I did buy it in the prefab box... These are only the second subs that I have had in my first car so I am not looking at the best of the best...

The guy also said maybe going to a boston G2 sub would work as well as these two subs... I went with the 2 because they look better and that is part of why I got them... I plan on upgraded quite a bit once I get a hold of some money... Thanks for your help though

and...you dont get subs because the LOOK the best....lol, you get them because they sound good.

anyway, the subs arent bad...and the prefab box is OK....just saying having a custom box made would have been better.

a PIC of the amp, maybe we can figure out what it is .

Alright... The amp is a rockford fosgate punch 201s... If you google it there is a lot of pictures lol

I know it was stupid, but I am sure they will sound better then what I have in there now...

If worse comes to worse for the box I can take it apart and build my own box right?

actually that Rockford amp does 200-250 rms bridged at 4 ohm.

Each of your punch woofers can handle 150 rms watts. and are single voice coil 8 ohm woofers. meaning. if you wire the woofers in parallel you can achieve a 4 ohm load for that amplifier. I dont see any need for an upgrade. if you get an amp that says it does 300rms at 4 ohm. all you will be getting is a wasted paycheck. and minimal to unnoticeable increase in sound.

Wow thanks a lot... How hard is it to wire the woofers in parallel? I haven taken physics 30 and there was a unit in there about series and parallel circuits... I remember a few things but never thought I would have to put it to use...

So skadude016 you suggest not getting a new amp and staying with the one I have now because it will work fine?

Ya I did some googling and the subs are already wired in parallel... So am I in the clear to not have to get a better amp? Thats the last question... Thanks a lot from everyone that helped me out... It is greatly appreciated
