i work fulltime at the San Diego airport from 6am-3pm (w/1hr lunch) 5 days a week. i worked today (my day off) for overtime and it ended up being a double shift (16 hours, -1 for lunch).

regularly after working 8 hours you get overtime(time and a half), and after 12 it's double pay. my question is, since i started at overtime will i get double pay after 8 instead of the normal OT?

Unless that type of thing is regulated in your state, it just depends on your employer's policy. Where I work OT is payed after 40 hours a week. Saturdays are time-and-a-half, and Sundays are double-time. I often work in excess of 8 hours in a day, but some days I get out a little early, so it usually balances out to a full 40 hours and no OT.

Anyhow, this type of thing is usually spelled out in your employee handbook or contract.

it all depends on your employer.

my job, anything over 8 is time and a half, anything over 10 is double time

saturdays are all time and a half, until you get to 10 hours, then you get double

sundays are full doubletime

and if i only get 4 hours of off time or less inbetween two shifts, my second shift is all double time no matter if it's only 2 hours or 20

and if you took hour hour lunch after 8, they'll probably give you some bullshit about how since you were off the clock for more than half an hour they start it over or something
