Is it possible to replace just the surround on a sub? i just bought a night shade with a 4-5 in tear in the surround. but the rest of the soft parts are good. so i was just wondering if i can replace just that

If someone will sell you just a surround -- sure. It is hard to get the surround off the cone, though... and to clean the frame area without damaging the remaining cone.

IIRC DD sells surrounds.

yea, of course. i just wanted too if it was possible to replace it if the patch didnt hold. whats the best/strongest way to patch that size of a tear

i would just patch it with some e6000 and a piece of thin cloth on he back side til you have enough for a recone.

yea it costs to ship but better than having a faulty sub. i would ship that sub back anywhere in usa east of the rockys for $25. just a offer...

probably some sort of surround glue/epoxy, the thin cloth can be anything, i've heard people use panty hose since it stretches...

as far as cloth just use t shirt material,something thin. dont have to go buy pantyhose BLHA HA HA...
