my friend has a budget for a vehicle of 3-4k. this is obviously an older car and will be used. he wants to run 3kw in it through the stock electricals minus the big 3. what do you think about it?

I think most likely any vehicle in his budget that would be in decent enough shape to actually consider buying won't have enough stock electrical to support a three kilowatt system.

I think if he put a yellow top and a 0 guage wiring big3, and a car with atleast a 130amp alt, he could pull it off.

waste of 3kw.....most likely going to be a import or a cheaper car so it wont have a decent stock electrical...might get away with 1kw...what amps does he want to run?

why put a battery in there to put more strain on the alt? 180 amp is the smallest alt i would run with 3kw.

true but for the amount hes got to spend on a car hes not going to have a stock 130 alt amp...maybe if he bought a full size SUV or a full size truck....but for 3-4 grand they would be shitty.

I think a moderatly cheap car for aorund that price would be a grand Prix, those come with like 115-120 amp alt stock, sometimes more and not a shitty car really

i suggest an off fleet work truck, they will usually have beefier stock alternators.
