Question Concerning L-pads

I would like to use some L-Pads to fine tune some issues in my system. I am running my front stage 3 way set-up off my head unit with no amp. Can I wire them in after the crossover network? I would like to essentially dial down my tweeter volume as they are mounted up near the A-Pillars. Also, all the ones I've seen online are an 8 ohm impedance instead of 4 ohm. Could I hypothetically get 6 L-pads and have total volume control of all 6 speakers individually? I know these questions might sound dumb, but I am completely new to this idea and would like some knowledgeable input before I spend money and start re-wiring everything.

Before you worry about getting any external L-pads you should check your crossovers, mine have them built in via a little jumper which lets me choose between 0db, -3db, and -6db.
