Question about slapping noise.

Today I received my Type-r 1222D (Dual 2ohm) and this Ported Box.

BTW it's running off a Kenwood kac-7252 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif (500wrms @ 4Ohms)

Installed it and set my gains and the subwoofer sounds good buuuut

there is a kind of slapping sound that is ammitted at the higher notes (low passed at 60hz)

The weird part is, when I put a t-shirt in the port it blocks the sound.

I've seen a few posts on here about this issue, but no real answer. I'm guessing it's just the box??

Only problem is I don't have any means to build a box or have one made around here (that I know of)

Thanks for any help

I guess thats what u get for buying alpine subs and not rockford!

I guess I'll do somemore experimentation and if it doesn't work out I'll email woofersetc.

I'll try to check the port to see if it's loose. thanks for the help

is the speaker wire too long?

you may have to tape the excess to a box wall.

also a loose piece or any leak could also cause the noise.

i would also have thought it could be clipping the amp, except for the fact it stops when you put a shirt in the port.

it could still be something with the amp settings (what are all the settings?)

BTW, I did the calculation, and that box is:

(approx) 1.5ft^3 Net Volume Tuned to 34Hz

also could be port noise, according to winisd it should be right on the edge of port nosie with that thin of a port and that much power.

PS. that sub could handle double that power. you could have probably gotten a 1 ohm stable amp that'd do quite a bit more power for the same price //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

thanks for the reply.

i'm gonna check the speaker wire tomorrow after work. i think that might be it...since it's not held down and runs striaght to the back of the box.

as for the amp, i've had it for a while and i'm upgrading here in a few weeks-a month. i plan on running my front stage off that when i get a new amp and eventually i'll get some components. all in time though...
