question about running speakers off amp

Im running 4 alpine type s speakers and 2 subs off this kicker amp. I feel like the amp is a waste and the speakers might as well be running off the head unit. Do I need this amp or should I get it rewired to the HU and run the subs off a better amp?

What do you mean, you feel like the amp is a waste?

I'm willing to bet that the amp is giving you more dynamic range and headroom than your head unit could ever offer...I do think that running all four speakers is a waste, however //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'm not a fan of rear fill, especially amping the rear fill.

i'd assume its a kx/zx700.5

its a kicker ix406 its like 6x55 rms at 4 ohms...its made to run 6 speakers...

I was just debating whether to wire the subs which are infinity 1240 300 rms to a more powerfull amp and run the speakers to the HU all 4 are alpine type s

The first thing I'd try would be running the rear speakers off of the HU, the front speakers off of 2 amplified channels and then each sub off of a pair of bridged channels.

That should give you 115w per sub and 40w for each front speaker.

so how would I bridge the two subs...the outputs have like 4 sets of +- for the speakers and then another 2 sets of +- that say subs...would I wire the subs bridged in the speaker section?..would this work?
