Well this isn't really a problem, I'm just curious if anybody here can shed some light on something I'm a bit confused about...
Now first off, I know plenty about noise, troubleshooting it, and avoiding it.
I however am in the unique position of having a CarPC, and only a CarPC, no headunit involved whatsoever. My sound card outputs directly to my amplifiers. I have very solid grounds, all the wires are properly routed, they do not cross or run near any signal wires. However, a computer unlike a head unit doesn't turn on instantly with the car. Mine is rather slow at the moment since I don't have it optimized at all to load quickly, takes about a minute and a half.
Anyway...so the deal is when I start the car I get noise...bad. Both constant buzzing through the speakers, and alternator whine. As windows boots up, things start turning on and the noise changes, finally when the sound card is powered up ALL the noise instantly goes completely away. I mean every single little bit of noise is gone, I can sit in the car with the engine off on a quiet night and not here a thing...it's perfect.
I'm just wondering if this is just some sort of unavoidable radiated noise from the computer components or something I should be actually looking into? It's not really a problem since I can remotely start the computer and 99% of the time it's booted before I get in the car, I'm just curious since before I got the CarPC I never encountered noise in any installation I did.
