question about new setup

SWINE FLU!!!!
so i got my new setup installed today, and it being my first ever system, it's much more exciting than I imagined it would be. until now i'd never even been in a car with a subwoofer.

anyway, on to the question.

i got my new stuff installed, drove about 2 miles home, it was fun with the radio up. showed my mother my new subwoofer for a minute or two. drove home two or three miles, showed my roommate my subwoofer, drove 2 or 3 miles back to my old work, turned on my car leaving my old work and the only thing coming out of any speakers was the bass from my subwoofer.

there was absolutely no noise coming out of any of my four other speakers. None of my other speakers are hooked up to an amp, they're all ran off the HU. got pissed off that i've had it less than an hour and i already have a problem. Went to work, talked to a guy that knows some stuff about car audio, and he told me that the vibrations probably just knocked the wire harness loose, because i wasn't getting any sound from the HU, i was only getting sound from my amped sub. Went out on break, jiggled my harness around a bit, tried to make sure all connections were tight, still nothing but bass.

went back to work, two hours later went on my lunch break, turned my car on and i had all my speakers back working. drove too and from a resturaunt on break, everything worked fine.

got off work, drove to the timeclock, everything worked. ran in, punched out, came back to my car, and as i was pulling out of the driveway everything cut out for about half a second, then only the subwoofer came back on.

how can i fix this?

edit: incase you were wondering my setup, i have an older JVC HU(which i plan on replacing with a pioneer premier soon), 2 sony Xplod 6 1/2 speakers on my rear deck(also plan on replacing), 2 rockford fosgate Power 4'' speakers in my front dash, and an orion 600D monoamp(not hooked up to my interior speakers)

Could be a ground problem, you could also be driving your HU into protection, how loud do you have it? And if neither of those is a problem, try a diff HU in there if you can to see if you still have the same problem. Also, if your sub amp rem wire is tapped into the HU's amp wire, make sure that is not loose.

oh yeah i forgot to post. before i had my amp/sub i had to turn it up to like volume 30 to have it be loud, now i only have to turn it up to like 25 for it to be loud, so i didn't have it past 25.

as for the rem wire(?) is that behind the HU? because i'll go try to make sure everything is tight again

It may, depending on where it was installed, it is a blue wire tapped into another blue wire going from your harness to your HU.

i don't understand though. if it were the REM wire, how would that affect the interior speakers? if the REM wire were lose, wouldn't that make the sub cut out instead of the interiors?

Well since you got it installed at a professional car audio shop then take it back and tell them to fix it. You didnt pay all that money for nothing. Good luck!

Also check your ground wire.

Ahh just reread your statement and actully you didnt say where you got it installed at. So did you do this yourself or at a shop? If it was at a shop do the above if not then try going through all your connections behind the deck. Also where you ran your wires. Sounds to me that you might be pinching a wire somewhere. That will make it cut in and out. Good luck!

i did get it installed at a shop but since i couldn't solve the problem myself overnight(no surprise i'm a complete idiot when it comes to car audio for now) i'm just going to have to wake up early tomorrow(today for most of you) and bring it back in.

i'll keep you posted on the progress, and once it works good i'll put a video up of my first sub in action

Most car audio install shops will tap your sub amp rem wire into your HU's amp power wire, if this wire is loose, your HU's amp doesnt get power which in turn you get no sound in your interior speakers.
