Question about master and slave amps (Massive P1000.1 amp)

I currently have a Massive P1000.1 amp powering a 12" SI Mag D2.

Manual of the amp says:

440 W @ 2 ohm

880 W @ 1 ohm (Yeah, everywhere else it says 1000 @ 1 ohm, including the catalog that came with the amp)

So, I have the Mag wired to 1 ohm and I am happy.

Anyway, I plan of getting a second Mag sometime in the future And I am a little confused about getting a second Massive amp to use in a master/slave format.

Let's say I get a second P1000.1 and master/slave it to the other P1000.1. Then wire the two Mags to 2 ohms. Would the two P1000.1s be giving the two Mags 880Watts total? Seems like it's better to hook up one amp to one Mag, and the other amp to the other Mag but I have no idea how to connect two amps to my Alpine. (my alpine has two preouts, one for the front speakers, one for the sub. Probably why I choose not to get back speakers and an amp. No more preouts!!)

Yeah, I could always get a new amp to power both Mags, but I like to use what i have, and try not to get rid of stuff that works.

If I understand you right....why master/slave them at all? What you are proposing to do is take 2 amps, slave them together and run 2 subs off of it. But won't the sum of the slaved amp, be the same as the two amps anyways? In other words, I if you have two subs, and two amps, I would run one amp to one sub....since you are theoretically doubling amp power by slaving the amps, yet then halving it by running it to two speakers, I can't see an advantage of it. If your massive amp currently has rca outs, daisy chain those to the new massive amp, and go for the one sub/one amp setup...see what I mean there? Unless you like triple your power by slaving the amps, then there really is no point in doing it...normally people will slave two amps and run it to one speaker, thereby doubling the wattage they are sending to the sub (Or close to double, whatever, you get the point!) Now, if you ARE gonna see like a gazillion watt increase, then just ignore what I said and call me a wanker or something! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

When you master/slave amps at 2ohm, both amps will see a final 1ohm load so you would get double power, basically 880x2, and would be your best bet having 1 set of pre outs, or you could use y splits
