Question about KOVE Armageddon 10's

Hi! I am looking (probably) at buying a pair of Kove Armageddon subs...

I am new to this forum, and new to getting back into audio, it's been several years since I had any car audio stuff, or have researched anything... last I knew, Kove was awesome and still in business.... now I see that some things have changed!!!!!! so hoping someone can give me some advice!

I have a 99 ***** Am... I recently purchased a Kicker L7 Solobaric 10 (because it was REALLY cheap) - and I have now found some kove's.... here's my question...

Since I have been away so long my question(s) might be really dumb to everyone here, but I'll ask anyway //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

Would a pair of Kove Armageddon 10's be a LOT better than the L7, or similar? or???? I have no clue (I haven't installed the L7 yet, waiting to build a box) so I dont really know what it, or the Armageddon's sound like...

I am kinda limited on funds, and I already have an L7, so jsut wondering if it'd be a worthwhile investment to get the Kove's.... and lastly, how does the Armageddon compare to some of RE's new subs (which I didnt know existed and just started reading about)

thanks in advance for any advice! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

are they the m series or z series?

I had a Armegeddon M series 12. Its rated at 400rms, but I ran 800rms on it in a sealed box and it ****** slammed. Kove used to make solid subs. That Kove I had was better then alot of subs I have had...The Z series are beasts

in the right boxes i have no doubt 2 10's would be better than 1 l7 but... comparing 1v1 i wouldnt waste the money trying to find hte differnece cuz its prolly very small...

I honestly don't know which series, is there a way to tell?

i think that 1 to 1, the l7 would be louder then the m series, but the kove would sound better. 2 to 1, the M's would be louder. If they are the Zseries, then I think even 1 to 1 they would be louder

im uploading a pic of mine right now

OK cool! thanks for uploading that picture!!! I will find out what they are, so if it's the M series, then I should get them? if not, stick with the L7? oh wait, I am confusing myself.. LOL

what is the price being asked? Even if they are Mseries, i would rather run 2 then 1 L7..A fair price for the M series in good condition is about 90-100 for the pair I guess. The z series are worth a fair amount more

unless the box is built to specs and is a nice box, thats kind of pricey for m series. But if the box is decent and subs are in good condition, then its probley a fair price. Offer em like 150 or something

OK, I am glad you came in here, I was thinking (based on previous memory) that this was like a screaming deal.... LOL - in my hatchback type car, would the L7 hit pretty hard (I have a Rockford 500-1 amp to push it with) - I jsut wanted to investigate this, because I had always hear Kove was SOOOOO awesome...

the L7 will hit hard depending on your expectations. Kove used to make solid subs, but they have been out of business for quite some time. There really isnt much of a market for the old kove stuff anymore. Many companies now make a comparable product. If you were to switch out, you would probley gain more from a sq perspective then from an spl perspective

I see...

ok, wow, this is such useful information, this is what i get for being out of this stuff for so long! - I am not doing any competition stuff or anything like that... I just want to enjoy it, and have it hit hard, (I like things overkill, so I want it to hit harder than some basic sub(s) ) - I have also been looking at RE, since made by usamps... and they look great on "paper" but I've never heard one.
