question about kicker dx700

im going to install a kicker dx700 amp and L5 15" in my friends jeep. he bought the system on ebay sold as is from "i sold it." i didnt think it was a good idea to buy the system without knowing the voice coil configuration. i took the sub out of the box and found that it was a dual 2ohm voice coil and the amp is not 1ohm stable. the sub also has a good size tear in the spider. my first question is, would it be ok to rum the amp at about 350 watts at 1 ohm or could that still blow the amp? second question, do you thing the sub will sound ok at about 350 watts with a torn spider?

sounds like you got a bad deal. id just get a proper sub with the right vc impeadence

def. a bad deal but what can you do. it was sold as is from a company that sell other peoples junk. i told my friend the same thing(get a sub with the right VC) but he doesnt want to spend any more money at the moment.

the amp is pretty much bullet proof. it will go into protect before it blows.

was that sub supposed to be used or was it posted new, was it posted 4ohm coils are the 2ohm coil????
