Usually they design their own, then send the blue prints to korea to be built.

however, when a company first starts out, they start out making their own in their basement. Eventually, once they get enough interest in their product, they outsource to korea.

I know its all overseas now and i rarely see MADE IN THE U.S.A. but most of the time i see DESIGNED IN THE US, BULIT IN CHINA...i mean wtf?

No a lot is still assembled here, but usually with parts from Asia.
