My gf wants to put this h/u in her jetta

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-o8kDIRjKvAG/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&id=other_items&i=133VD7001#Tab

will it fit without having to modify her dash?.....can she just use a wiring harness and installation kit?.....and can you give me a link to the kit she'll need if that is the case

she has the monsoon audio system in the jetta if that matters

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

The page you linked had a lot of items. I am assuming you are talking about the flip out panasonic screen deck? If so, then it will fit, you will need a dash kit to fill up the other half of the double din opening. I had an avic n2 installed in my 2004 and used a metra kit. Kind of nice becuase it gives extra storage.

Now, the thing is.... you have the monsoon. You can't as far as I know, just wire up your speakers to your deck because the monsoon uses 8 ohm speakers in the back doors and the amp makes the resulted ohm load work. From what I was told, you have to take the monsoon amp out of the mix, and you can't use the rear speakers because they are 8 ohm. Plus, all the speakers in the car are mid bass drivers with seperate tweeters in the doors, so even if you just tried to hook up the front speakers to your deck, you wouldn't have any highs.

I completely ripped out every monsoon component in my jetta. Someone correct me if I am wrong or if there is a different way to do it.

A good place to look for more info would be http://www.vwvortex.com do a search for after market stereo or somthing along those lines and you will get a for sure answer.

Hope this helps.

Monsoon systems are cake.

Amp is in left side of trunk, in that pull-down compartment- underneath the stock changer.

Unplug harness, wire speakers back up to radio, and you're done.

That Panasonic will be a ***** to get behind that dash, though- it's got built in 5.1, which means a lot of RCA plugs on back of radio...behind the radio in the Jetta's isn't exactly roomy.

You *shouldn't* need a dash kit...you could use a Metra 1784 harness to make wiring up the radio a little easier...you'll also need a Metra 40VW10 antenna adaptor.

If you really don't wanna do it...go down to a local CC or BB...CC should charge you $60 to rewire the Monsoon system.

Ahh the good old rewire charge.
And if your an *** them too, they can easily tack on another $15

DIY, learn from it I say.
$15?

I've done HARDWIRES for $60, because people are douchebags //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks....i think i'll have CC do it, only bad experiences with BB.....so all speakers will work doing it the way u described??

What about the fact that the rear speakers are 8 ohm? And that all speakers are seperate midbass and tweeters?

And, he will (unless the new deck is dd) need a dash pocket kit to fill the hole left from going double to single din.

The head unit will just deliver less power into 8 ohms thats all...

True.

But these door speakers have no tweets in them. All 4 doors have component sets and the monsoon amp acts as the crossover. The door speakers in the front are 4 ohm, the front tweets are 4 ohm, the rear door speaks are 8 ohm and the rear tweets are 4 ohm, all run by a seperate + and - wire.
