Question about how to apply vinyl decal onto amp

I have two sundown 3000's and seen socalbean selling his 3000 with the flame decal on it and I wanted to try to do this. I notice his amp looks really glossy. I don't want to just stick the decal on there and make it look stupid. I want it to actually look like it was painted on there. Also these amps have like ridges on the face and I don't know how his amp looks so good with the decal going over those ridges. Anyways just seeing if anyone knows how to do this and make it look like it nice.

Here's my 3000D's

Here's the one I seen, notice its so glossy and you cant really notice the ridges on the amp

The ridges not being seen on the flames themselves give the appearance of a photoshop job, but I doubt that is the case. But, I cannot otherwise explain why the ridges are only visible where the flames are not.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it for a couple reasons.
1: To me that amp with the flames is gay as hell.

2: It kills the resell value of the amp.

3: It's gay as hell.
I'm not doing the flames...got something else. I understand not some people will like it and it'd hurt the resale but don't plan on getting rid of them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Just need to know how...

Flames look like a vinyl wrap was appied to the amp.

Options;

1. You could go this route but have the wrap done in sections to show the ridges in the amp

2. Fill in the ridges before applying the wrap

3. Apply a thin sheet of aluminium on top of the amp and vinyl wrap

4. Get an artist to airbrush a design on the amp.

If you have good eyes you can see the ridges through the flames.

I wouldnt do it for 1 reason. The heatsink is to disperse heat, simple. When you put vinyl over it, you are trapping the heat in the heatsink keeping the amp hotter. Which isnt cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I know that the flames are a vinyl decal because that is what socalbean said and rollerdj who the amp owned to originally. He said that he had his local decal shop do it, but I asked him through PM and no other response. Tried calling shops around here and looking up information online and can't really find much. I DONT want to just put a vinyl decal on it and thats it, I want it to atleast look like it was done well like the one above (even if you dont like the flames or design)

Maybe its just the bigass screen on this Mac but i can see the ridges in the start of the flames, they disappear mostly to me in the color but i can still see it partially i believe.
So since you can partly see how does it look like it's done? Just put the decal over them?

thats what it looks like to me, have you PMed the owner of that amp to ask him. Regardless i think its a bad idea, channels or not and i have stated why. Heat can kill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

The way it looks so glossy and good makes me think that the enitre face of the amp is covered in something.

My guess is either that the decal has clear areas where the flames are not and its across the whole top plate of the amp, which would explain why it doesnt show ridges.

Or. there is a cover over the entire amp, then a flames decal on it.

Either way, i'm 99.9% sure the amp is totally covered.

*look closely at the ridges on the left. They are covered, no?*

Yea I have and he didn't really know cuz he wasn't the original owner so then I pm'd the original owner and no reply. But I'm not going to be completely covering them with the decal.

Yea it's so hard to tell. The gloss is really confusing me.

vinyl is sagged into the ridges. you can clearly see it on the bottom 2 ridges due to the angle of the shot.

bubba, it won't hurt the resale value. it's vinyl, it can be peeled off w/o leaving any residue behind depending on if it's good vinyl or cheap vinyl.

only the top/face of the amp has vynil on it. none of the sides have it. the sheet of vynil wasn't even large enough to completely cover the entire amp.
