can it display custom pictures in its display? or like a custom background.. (like that you can upload to it or something...)

No you can't. There are only 5 backgrounds you can choose from that came with the HU. I cant really remember what they all are, but one of them is a race car going through a neighborhood, water moving, stars, sky, and fog.
