Question about a Kenwood deck

I have a Kenwood KDC-x917 that i got for a hell of a price, the only thing is that i need a remote and a trim ring. I have been looking on Ebay and have found a trim ring that they say works for older models....are Kenwood trim rings universal? Also are the remotes pretty much universal? They say that remotes also work on older models. I don't want to buy a trim ring and remote and not work. Can someone help me out here? Maybe someone has a remote and trim ring for sale?

I cannot say for certain about the trim ring, though it should (don't shoot me if I'm wrong, though) fit pretty much universally for all Kenwood decks.

The remote question however I can answer with some authority.

Yep. All Kenwood remotes will work all Kenwood remote-compatible headunits.

I have a very old (at least 10 years old at this point) credit-card style flat remote that I purchased as an accessory to a KRC-608 tape deck I bought looooong ago (the very last cassette receiver I ever purchased)

That deck was "remote-ready" but wasn't supplied with one by Kenwood so I bought an optional one on top of the deck purchase. Because I prefer the flat type that it is over the remotes supplied with Kenwood headunits here in the last few years I continue to use it (am now using it with my XXV-01D) and it works fine.

The newer remotes will also work my old tape deck so as far as this goes - find you a Kenwood remote to your liking and buy it! So long as the battery in it is good you'll be gold.

Thanks for the help, im not used to not having a remote. My friend gives me crap all the time about it. I just like using my remote.

I guess i will have to give it a shot i guess about the trim ring.
