Quad voice coil

the quad coil sub was made for 1 reason. so that before strappable amps came out you could run 4 amps per sub...

qvc's kinda confuse me. Seems like way too much work. I know memphis sells a Q1. could you in theory put that down to .5ohm or would it be .25? They really really confuse me.
I'll stick to my DVC's and call it a day.

i put four 2500d's on my two q1 mojo 15's, each @ .5, two per sub. I used two 2500d's on them @ .25 each one amp per sub, took it just fine.

Bob Perillo went to SLAP finals a few years back with 9 mojo quad 1 15's and 36 mojo 2000d's...

I think the Q1's do take a little more. I know memphis isn't the best comparison but their Q1 mojo takes I believe 1500rms where as he DVC mojos take 1000.

Don't take me too seriousl tho, I don't know too much about this. Hell I just asked what a quad coil did.

if ur coil is a 8 layer coil dvc or quad it's gonna have the same amount of wire on the former...

Would you be surprised to know that many 8layer coils ARE quad coils wired in parallel under the dustcap.

Quad 2.8 coil = Dual 1.4 coil

comes down to more coil is better, but the smaller coils take less wire. Solution? higher ohm coils wired in parallel at the former.

if ur coil is a 8 layer coil dvc or quad it's gonna have the same amount of wire on the former...

an 8 Layer Dual 2ohm flatwound coil will have more copper than an 8 layer Dual .7 flatwound coil.

They do make flatwound/edgewound copper coils, just friendly FYI.

I've seen some pretty trick edgewound coils- but the ones i speak of are ccaw
