Yes... I searched the site before posting.

Im using my vehicles stock HU, but installing some Rainbow SLC265's. If I were to get an amp thats more powerfull than I need, allowing me to keep the gains low, would I still benefit from upgrading to a ~$150 HU?

Tell me if im wrong, but from what I understand a higher preout voltage won't help if I already have the gains at a safe level on the amp.

Just looking for the most cost effective way to beautifull sound. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You are going to want some sort of signal processing, if you are going with a nice set of comps like the SLCs. I would either look into upgrading HUs to one with a decent EQ and Processing like Time alignment. or get an outboard processing unit that can be intergrated into your stock system.

Im broke though, can't even afford my amp yet. I havn't seen an HU with time alignment at a price I can afford. A good EQ would be nice, but what else would I really get out of a reasonably priced HU?
