put os from hard drive onto internal hdd?

Im currently running windows vista but I have windows 7 on my external hard drive, i know how to boot from my usb (ext. hard drive) and I know how to format my internal hard drive, but i need to get the windows 7 from my ext hd to my int. hd. How do I do this? It seems simple, but im just not getting it, am I thinking too hard about it? Thanks in advance guys!!!

p.s. the laptop in question is a dell inspiron 1318
