Put my 2 weeks in today...

if you are good at sales maybe car salesman. i got a few friends that make pretty good money at it
Thought about that, and could probably get a job at a Ford Dealership down here, but it is primarily commission based, and that worries me in our economy

I could if I didn't have school and had a job that could do weekends and could do 50 hours a week, but I can't do 50 hours a week and maintain a good GPA. My car insurance rapes me, and rent is expensive and going up. I'm not saying $10/hr is an impossibility, just a SEVERE strain
Get a car that you can actually afford if something like this would have happened. Hell, I pay $700 in housing (rent/utilities), pay for gas, go out to eat, and buy whatever my daughter wants, and was doing that with only $9/hr with 40Hr weeks. You need better money management if you can't live off of $10/hr, and not have a strain. Best thing would to do is apply for jobs you think you would never be qualified to do, and they may hire you up and train you? That's what my girlfriend did, and now she's a salaried worker.

My insurance is $244 on my truck which I have no payments on, just went down from $326 (a month). Rent alone is $500, and about to go up, that's not utilities and such. Gas is ~$70 a week, and i mainly commute to/from school and work only. So if I worked 40 hours a week, I could probably live off 10/hr, but things would be tight. My money management is actually pretty good, i have a good amount saved up right now

When I wrote that, I didn't take in that you were a college student. I do still suggest applying for jobs you don't think you would get, 'cause that's what my girlfriend did and now she's a manager of a photography studio and is salaried. She thought she'd never get it, but did. It's worth a shot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Good luck, and sorry for being so 'hasty'.
