Pulled over for nothing?

get over that habit. Stop being afraid of cops. They are normal people that have a job to do just like you do. I drive about 600 miles a week, and see LOTS of morons on the roads when it comes to cops. People WILL NOT pass a cop on the freeway at all. Its a game to them (cops), they do it on purpose for laughs. I do 5 over on the freeway period. If a cop is doing the speed limit, I pass him. If I see a cop in the median, I maintain speed. How many times have I been pulled over? In 18 years... 3 times. 2X for speeding (15 over) and 1X for loud music. All of em when I was under 21 or so. I draw all kinds of attention from the cops when I am in my truck, but still dont get pulled over. No idea EXACTLY how fast I am going in it, it has no speedometer unless I have my GPS with me. Its louder than any car around me, and with 16.5" wide rear tires and a 4" hood cowl, kind of tells people.. "yup, its fast"
lol i love when people slam on there brakes about to start a big pile uup just cuz they see a cop.

Knew a guy that was a cop and he said one time that he looks for people slowing down when he comes up on them or passes them. Its a sign they were paying attention to the cop and they got nervous for some reason.

Lol well I usually have a dip in when Im driving and im only 16.. So i dont wanna get pulled over and waste a dip.. I play it safe most of the time but I dont SLAM on my brakes if I see one.

I got pulled over driving up to Show Low AZ, from Chandler, AZ. I was about 20 miles from Show Low, going through all the canyons and curvey roads. I came to a convoy of diesils climbing up hill. I saw the passing lane was open and there would be enought time to pass them. Well good ol' State trooper was sitting about half way in. He got me doing 72 in a 55, and I was like WTF, I thought it was stil 65 or 75 cuase this is highway interstate road. and it was a staight away at a slope. Anyhow, I was told " We can pull you over for going just one mile over and issue you a citation." Ya, whoopdi doo. I had my 1911 on the passenger seat "in holster and chambered"

When your driving on the public roads, you have already given what's called implied consent. All that means is that the police don't need a reason to pull you over.

Eyeballing the cops all nervous like get's people pulled over alot. Exterior modifications catch people's eye and cops are people.

It was probably just the area you were driving through.

Cops make me nervous regardless of whether or not I have anything to hide at the time...

Happens to me all the time.
duh

i drive 5 over on the instate and go by cops all the time and only once have i gotten a ticket . the one time i did is cause i saw him and hit my brakes .he told me that if your did 70 in a 65 they wont mess with you unless you hit your breaks. how true that is i don't know but haven't gotten pulled over since

Implied consent to pull you over and check registration etc, but NOT to hold you. Definitely important to know your rights. Some handy tips I use (and pulled off of know your rights) that has helped me get out of a few sticky situations.

1) When you get pulled over, DONT grab anything, wait until the office asks for your license and registration, preferably keeping hands ont he steering wheel.

2) AS SOON AS you get license and registration and proof of insurance, kind ask the office "May I ask what you pulled me over?" They are required by law to ask for license and info first, and as soon as you are getting that ask that question (obviously be very polite)

side note, if you think you smell like drugs, keep the window rolled down just enough to talk and pass information.

3) 9/10 they will go back to the car right after answering that question and start running your information. Hopefully they do not start asking questions, if they do politely say, "Am I free to go?" Even though it sounds rude, they have no right to detain you ANY longer than they have to run your plates etc without reasonable suspicion (might be the wrong term).

4) Once they come back, they should hand you a ticket, warning, or verbally give you a warning. If they do not, again, very politely ask, "Am I free to go officer?" That will force them to give you any ticket etc. After you get your warning, ticket etc, they have absolutely no right to hold you any longer.

East Lansing where I live has one of the higher police per capita in the country. As well as being a college town, the cops around here can be awful dicks. I have found this method to get me in and out quick with a pull over, and avoids a lot of unnecessary questions.

i got pulled over in NC for doing 84 in a 65. that was after i saw them and slammed it down from ~100. this was 2am and about 15* out. that was $250 for a lawyer/costs/fees so it wasn't too bad.
