Here are a couple of pictures of the build... I build boxes so d*mn fast - and zone out - I almost forgot to stop and take'em...

... Well: Here you go, ( Nothing special - but it came out pretty good - Considering my table saw if f*cked up - my skil saw wants to cut like sh*t - I was left with my d*mn JIGSAW! - But it still only took my 2 hours to calculate, design, make cut sheet, CUT, and assemble, test, and install! ( FAST SETTING WOOD GLUE & CAULK WORK! - WOOHOO!!!! )

... I'm admitting - I did mess up on 1 cut - I wasn't really paying attention - but oh well - the 15 is BANGIN'!

It's tuned @ 38hz

.... The port is 6.75"Wide x 13"High x 13.75"Long

The enclosure's external dimensions are: 38"Wide x 14.5"High x 24.5"Deep

... Kicker recommended the port to be like 16.25" High x 13.75"Long x 3.5" Wide

I don't have the height is my Nissan Sentra's Trunk -

... So I shorten 3.25 from it & added that to the Width ( 3.5" converted to 6.75" )

It's still tuned to 38hz... Just had to adjust.

And as far as the bracing goes...

... The port wall acts as a brace - so nomore bracing was necessary.

DJ,

You might want to go back and rethink that box. If the dimensions you posted are correct, its ~5.4cuft net and is actually tuned to ~43hz.

Looking at the #'s you converted for the port area...kickers recommended 16.25x3.5 is 56.875sq inches of port area. Your 13x6.75 port is 87.75sq inches of port. To maintain a 13.75" port length and have a 13" tall port that still tunes to ~38hz, you should have made the port 4.375" wide.

One thing that may be helping in this designs case is that the port opening it firing into the corner of the box that is 10" away. Since your port is 6.75" wide, it is likely reacting like that back corner is still part of the overall port length. So, you may still be 'seeing' lower tuning...that is also creating a dead area in the box.

I use WiniSD .... And that's what it calculated for me... ( my adjustments: 38hz - length was still the same )

.... I guess I'm just gonna have to go and purchase me the program I've been wanting...

- But I'll my enclosure have came out wonderful - even if the program is screwing up...

... i haven't gotten any complaints. ( but everything that you mentioned is knownledge i'm keeping... I appreciate the INPUT! )

Are ya'll still in the same place?

Sorry, but ports don't work like that. You're tuned a bit higher than you think.

It's only bracing the top and bottom pieces(and not adequately). You still have large, unbraced panels on that box. Bracing, when done right, never hurts...

No need to buy anything, this will work just fine for most people.

That, a calculator, and some in-vehicle build/acoustics know-how.

Google SketchUp helps to visualize the build also.
