Ps3 INFO

PS3 makes a very nice media player. I personally like the menu system better as well as the overall amount of tweaking you can do to it. The game selection is sub par as far as exclusive goes. You have Resistance, Metal Gear, Ratchet and Clank, and a few others.

And this has nothing to do with a year jump from the 360. The console is a mother to program for, and developers are hesitant as the PS3 has sold considerably less than the 360. It's a matter of money and time. The PS3 is getting some sweet games in the next year and a half, so it won't be a waste. Plus it gets most of the heavy hitting multiplayer games, such as sports and music games.

Also, the 360 is leaps and bounds above the PS3 in terms of music during games, as well as messages and game invites. If online play is important to you, this may bug you.

It's quieter than the 360, if you plan on using it for DVD movies, or streamed. It has had a few updates recently, and they can take awhile depending on your method of doing it. (i.e, wireless internet, wired, or USB thumbdrive).

The DualShock 3 and Sixaxis are alright. The shoulder "triggers' bother me, but that's a personal preference. I don't like the lack of weight or feel they(triggers) have. The controllers are out of the box rechargeable, which is nice. USB mini plug will do it. Not sure if it charges when the PS3 goes into standby like the 360 does, but charges during gameplay or what have you.

Some games have required partial install. Off the top of my head...

Metal Gear Solid 4

Heavenly Sword

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

Devil May Cry 4

The Orange Box

Don't bother with the 40 gig. The 80 gig has more features and is pretty future proof. These game installs can be deleted and won't affect your save, if you run out of room. You'll just have to reinstall and then if needed, update the game. Oh, the game updates can take awhile too.

Hope some of that helps. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

And to the people with 2+ 360's getting RRoD'd..what are you doing to them? Two can be aimed at bad luck, but 3 and on and there seems to be a common denominator. The third party fans can make it worse. You don't think MS would have put faster fans/more fans if they were needed? It was a flaw in the heatsink design/attachment. Nothing to do with the fans. What some of these third party fans did was actually worsen the problem.

My first Xbox 360 was hooked up and died within 1 hour and was in the open and had plenty of air. The 2nd 360 lasted about 1 1/2 month's and started freezing up everytime I would play a game and it eventually got the red rings. The 3rd 360 took me about a month to get from Microsoft but it was basically brand new or they just put a new date on it but again it only lasted a couple hours before I got the red rings. The 4th I got and sold to my brother and he has had it for about 3-4 months now and it is starting to freeze up on every game he play's so I assume it's about to go it. None of these setup's had any 3rd party heatsinks or attachments and they were all out in the open and had plenty of breating room. Don't really see how it's anything to blame other then a POS system when it basically comes out the box and goes straight to RROD after a hour or so.

Developers don't like making cross platform games for the PS3 because it's too hard to develop for. Though the 360 has its faults, its a tried and true performer, and now comes out of the box full HD ready. If you're looking for a great gaming console, then go with the 360. If you're looking for a decent media center, then go with the PS3.
streaming blu ray using wireless (that is built in) is far from "Decent" bro

as far as games, who knows, i own both systems, play both, but madden 08 was 100x better on xbox360 than ps3

Ive had the same 360 for almost 3 years, and never had ANY issues with it. You will always hear about the people who had the "RROD" before the people who have nothing negative to say.

I also had a PS3 for about 6 moths, Ive had it freeze on me many times, and numerous headset problems.

The PS3 online is free, but Xbox Live is 10x better. You get what you pay for!

Just get both and be done with it!

theres your ps3. gran turismo 5 and burnout paradise are sold. but everything else is still there. will lower the price if you are seriously interested. only a month old, rarely played and comes with a wireless router. i absolutley love playing online. ecspecaially since it is free. i have never recieved lag at all and the graphics are amazing. if you are into sports or racing games a ps3 is for you. they have an amazing selection and the graphics on them are ridiculous. let me know if you are interested or have any questions. only reason i am selling is to make a downpayment on a new car, and after i save a little more i will definately purchase another. i havenet had any problems with the 40 gig i have and who really wants to play ps2 games on a ps3, i dont. but it is amazing, and one thing i didnt know about it is that when connected to the net you can surf the net right off your ps3. baddass? yup, never have to leave your chair to get on here. i absolutley love it and i highly suggest purchasing a ps3, even if it isnt mine. but if you did pick up mine it would help out a ton. keep me in mind man and remember the price will go down since those 2 games arent with it. talk to you soon

PS3 has more potential I think. I've owned both, 360 did have better online gameplay, but PS3s isn't terrible. I love streaming media from my computer to the PS3, nice feature. Blu-ray is a plus.

Also, high end games in the year(s) coming are going to start getting too large for 360. Doom 4 is already an example of this, xbox refuses to put the game on more than 2 discs, and it fits with ease on one blu-ray. As content soars, the demand for more space will come into play, which we're just starting to see. I don't think this will be too big of a deal, M$ will hold out until their next console, where they will probably have blu-ray as well and defeat the need for more space on a disc.

You'll be happy with a PS3 if you are interested in a media extender, blu-ray, and a beast of a gaming machine.

how much for the ps3 only

You can't go wrong with either system. As 95ZJ stated both have flaws. If you get a 360 just make sure to get the Elite since I have seen far less of them getting red rings of death. The PS3 will be a good all around system it's just with Sony and the 10 year plan it will be a little while before they really start using it to it's full potential.
Every console on store shelves should have the same chipset as the elite. (Falcon)

Ive gone through 4 xbox 360s, they all got Red light of death. Even the elite version i currently have, i have all had them on coolers to and rarely ever played them. My room mate got a ps3 earlier this week and the Xbox isnt coming back to college this year. Hope that helps share my insight on the PS3 and Xbox
Coolers will void your warranty if MS finds out you put them on there.

Anyways, in all honesty, in a few months there is going to be a price drop on the 360's, so you can get a Premium with the new Jasper chips and a 60 gig hard drive for 299.00. With the new chip set, RRoD should be non-existent. Call me a fanboy, but that is a pretty good deal.
