Pros please help with whine!

I am working on a friends truck and can't get rid of the whine coming through the speakers.

Whine Info

-------------------------------

1. Occurs when the truck is started.

2. Gets louder with acceleration, tested with deck volume on 0.

3. Goes away when rca's are unplugged from deck.

4. Does not occur when I hook an mp3 player directly to amp.

Things I have tried

-------------------------------

1. Running a new pair of RCA's away from everything.

2. Running the deck's ground with amp ground.

3. Trying a new deck.

DECK Alpine -> MTX 4 channel amp - > Front components ed6000 -> Subwoofer 10" Kicker

Sounds like a classic case of alternator whine.

What to try:

Ground the Rca's.

Better amp ground.

Can you explain how to ground rca's. I read on some threads where people suggest this but couldn't find an explanation on how to. Pictures would be useful also. Thanks.

What to try:

Ground the Rca's.

Better amp ground.

Problem isn't with the amp. He says the whine goes away when he unplugs the RCA's from the deck.

Try grounding the HU directly to the battery.

At least 90% of alt whine problems are a problem with the ground on the HU. Find a place to ground the HU to bare metal.
