well, after alot of thinking, i have decided to begin my project. Some of you have seen my cardomain site and left some good feedback, well today is day one and i got some pictures for you. I removed the backseats, installed the new KnuKonceptz 4 gauge amp kit began polishing alot of metal and paint, lots of cuts on my hands due to carelessness, and some good pic's. I plan on fiberglassing new seats for the rear. Thats right, i am going to have fiber glass seats which will act as the subwoofers ported enclsoure with the sub in the middle of the two seats.

and without further adou... ...the pics:

Just got the amp kit today and i got right to installing the second i opened it

This is the volvo's factory amp. People such as i who have a premier volvoe will have a factory amp. The factory is very good, nice, clean, and powerful but i had no need for it for the time being

factoryamp.JPG

This is my engine. This enginge was the first to try an aluminum metal based block and is very powerful. 6 cylinder total of 24 valves. The engine roars if i decide to post an MP3 of it. for the next week i ma going to clean and polish it. it's very dirty... ...too dirty.

and now, after 3 whole hours the seats needed to be removed, no thanks to volvospeed.com and swedespeed.com they provided me with little to no information on how to remove the seats or remove the factory amp so i had to do the next best thing... ...process of elimination.

I had to remove the little baby seat which i had no use for and do not ever plan on installing it back in unless in the near future i will need sell it and the buyer needs a babyseat.

here is what was removed, all 50 pounds of plastic, metal, leather and cushion.

heres a pic of the factory radio and factory amp won;t be really needing it anymore and thinkin about ebaying it.

heres just a random pic of what i had in the car before. It's a tsunami line convertor and monster cable (EWWWW) but all removed and i have KKK (knukonceptz karma kable) running through my car instead of a dinky line convertor though the line convertor was of best quality and never missed a beat.

The monster cable on the other hand was flimsly and tore easily. No idea why i bought it, guess it was one of those "BRAND NAME" gimmicks that somehow drew me towards to purchasing it. lesson learned.

If you ever decide to replace the stock speakers, and run a 4 channel or aftermarket amp...all you need to do is take a multi-meter and cet it to tone. Then you can trace the wiring from the stock speaks to the stock amp...and you'll already have all the wiring ran...no need to fish wires for all new speaks. Jst a suggestion, I did it in my girl's jeep grand cherokee (her's had a stock infinity "premium" system/amp). Mine truck on the other hand...i was not as lucky, had to run all new wire myself. Looks good thus far, I've been hesitant to remove ALL my panels/carpet in my truck on fear of not fitting it back correctly! Good luck, peace

yeah, i am going to fiberglass the door panels and the rear dash and have the 6x9's firing toward the front cabin.

I got more pics but i am currently uploading a video for my xanga. so you'll have to wait.

reminds me of when i was doing deadener in the rear deck. the system just hits so much better w/o anything in the rear (seats, deck, nothin! just completely stripped!). once i deadened everything and put it back together i got rattles again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

looks like an old school 940, or did you guys have the 6 cylinder option in the 740's? The door panel looks lik emy dad's old 740 turbo. That engine had quite a lot of torque going on. Oh, and the brakes...drool.

it's a 93 960 more of a luxery car than the volvos you see today and the 850's in general. the only gripe i have with it is it's handling. I need to get lowering springs because the factory springs make me feel like i am driving a boat and turning makes it feel like a boat about to tip over :|

Had 2 big accidents with a volvo in my lifetime.

My brother once broke the rear axle of the 740, judgement error drifitng into a tight turn with 4 people at the back, and me in front. Car nearly toppled over. Landing back onto 4 wheels was harsh but due to jello suspension, no one had a sprained back.

The axle alone cost nearly $10G to repair.

Another was my dad's driver, who spun the darn car at 75mph on the freeway in the rain. Spun 3 times, and slammed backwards onto a concrete barrier. Car only got minor scratches on the rear bumper and the front seats were a little out of angle due to impact. Was a miracle there was no damage and no injury.

Volvo's are expensive to maintain. Awesome Highway cruiser, so long as you don't brake when you see a puddle at 75MPH.

ehehe, and thats why these things are called bricks. They last you forever. I think i saw online that a guy in ireland had his volvo from the 80's or 70's i think and has over 3,000,000 miles and still counting. forgot the site though :p
