Hi group,
I perform high end home electronics design and installation and have zero knowledge of custom car audio (and I have no problem keeping it that way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif).
One of my customers just picked up a new ride and refuses to do business with the locals in my town because they traditionally do no provide the quality craftsmanship this guy requires and they make a lot of promises they can't deliver. I had suggested to this guy that he make a day trip to the nearby larger city and get some work done, but he want's me to tell him what to look for when it comes to gear. He's looking for quality components, but he doesn't want a space ship feel in his dash, that is, not a lot of blinky blinky. What kind of options do we have for speakers, amps, and recievers? Simple designs, but quality components...He's in his mid 40's so CD's are still a must for him, but I'm sure he'd adapt to some kind of hard disc playback as long as getting the music on the systems isn't a major hassle. His kids use IPOD's so some kind of dock is a must. Its a G-Class Benz so I think there are a lot of speaker locations already and whatever he gets he'll likely want to keep hidden behind the factory grills. Again, I'm not trying to design a system for this guy, just want to be exposed to the options.
Thanks for any and all input,
JP
