Hello,

I'm still looking for a good amp to feed my Boston Acoustic Pro60.

I'm still discussing if i want rear speakers in my car and that's why i'm looking for a 4 channel amp instead of 2 channels.

In first case I'd like to use 2 channels for the boston's and 2 for a double spoel (don't know how to translate to english) sub. If this sounds good I'll keep it this way.

After a lot of seerching on the iternet I came till they conclusion that the bostons need a lot of power.

The following amps interested me:

JL Audio 450/4 (no rear speakers or sub possible)

and the Kicker KX850.4 or SX900.4

Now is my question Is this a good choise, or if not what would be a good choise? and/or do I need to keep away the rear speakers?

great thnx,

im running my pro60's right now off a rockford fosgate punch 150 25 to life aniversary edition. and they sound beautiful. mine was underrated and the birthsheet said 300x2 @ 4 ohms so you get a lot of headroom. they are available off ebay from millionbuy for 199.99 . i know they still had 4 left this morning when i checked.

woops, didnt see you wanted to run rear speakers as well (actually you havent decide yet but anywho..)

if i were you i wouldnt run rear speakers at all.....it just screws up the front soundstage which is all you should care about. i have a brand new in box elemental designs nine.2x amp that im selling for $235 shipped right now. it's got a full 5-year warranty on it. very very solid amp. i run another nine.2x in my car for my front soundstage...a set of CDT's. let me know if you're interested.

specs are:

200 x 2 @ 4ohm at 12.5v

300 x 2 @ 2Ohm at 12.5v

600 x 1 @ 4Ohm at 12.5v

Height : 2.25"

Width : 9.85"

Length : 14.70"

notice it's all at 12.5 v. these normally bench about 50 watts rms higher when in 2 channel mode and 100 rms higher in bridged mode when at 14.4v like other amp companies rate their stuff.

wouldn't normally throw a plug in, but it seems to be right at the amount of power you're looking for with the pro60's.

although i dont know much about ED, i agree with this guy. this seems like a good amp as well with a nice price and the fact that its raed at 12.5 doesnt hurt.

one of my pro 6's blew at roughly 230 watts of pure PPI power...so i cant vouch for anything over 200...but i will say that the xenon 200.4 made them sing, and sing nicely...

well pro60's can still take 230....if you dont crank em so loud for so long....secondly...you probably heard some pretty dam audible distortion for them to blow the drivers

all im saying is that they CAN take it, but like any other speaker, you've gotta be smart about it.....its not like they couldnt take them cause of too much power...ya just melted the VC....you can pump the 230 rms if you dont crank it for so long. thaz all.
