primerica????

Everyone please sign-up for Davemerica. All it takes is $45 via paypal and I will give you a nice swift kick in the nuts. I will not promise that you get rich, the only thing I can assure you of is that you will be 45 smackers lighter.

In all seriousness. I know all about that company. Stay away.. As a matter of fact, I do not know any company that is any good where you need to pay them to start working. Don't you work so they can pay you?

Dave

I said a good company with an A+ rating, not just a company with an A+ rating. Primerica is a joke because their salesman are known to put square pegs in round holes and sell people products that don't suit their needs. You want to HELP your customers, not just sell them something to make extra money for yourself. As the old saying goes, you can sheer a sheep many times, but you can only skin him once.
I am not going to argue with you. The "NEED" argument is not admissible. Can we find something a little more tangible? I do like with the last sentence though. There is truth in that.

The first part, no thanks. You have a poor business plan.

I can respect your opinion on the second even without you providing any support. Lots of others here give very weak support to try and strengthen their argument. I would love to hear your support if you care to share.

I also resented the fact that they made me pay for my licenses. Then I can across several other well known insurance companies where this was common practice. I can only assume, as I hate to do, that it is a when in Rome scenario.

To the OP, do it, don't do it, I don't really care. Do some research first and ask a ton of questions. If you are not happy, leave.

I will let the rest of the people argue with themselves.

Just because you may not mislead clients doesn't mean the rest of the company doesn't encourage it. I'm only 22 and can't even count how many people have called me saying their Primerica coverage sucked and wanted to know what we could do for them.

I see you have never been in sales. Up selling is a widely used method of increasing your revenue. If you want to argue selling things to people they don't really need, you can apply that to almost all retail, including car audio and anything to do with car audio, and is honestly a weak argument. I find this funny coming from someone who finds it hard to do the right thing, posts about it, then has people reference another thread where it was easy for you to take advantage of someone else.
I found it unethical in retail as well. Which is why I quit.

How is my argument weak?

What do you want me to say, yes you can make money with Primerica is you do not have a conscious about what you are selling.

I can't sell something I honestly don't believe in. Why do you think I work in this penny-ante as budget clerk position instead of selling financial advise...here's a hint, it isn't because I'm a lousy salesman.

Secondly, I find it laughable that you take a shot at my personal character when trying to defend something as ludicris as this organization. Attack the argument, not the person. Because you are right...I do have issues when trying to decide what is and what is not the right thing to do. Sometimes I am unsure, sometimes I make mistakes. I apologize for not being Jesus fvcking Christ, okay? But as they say, it takes one to know one and as one "scammer", I sure as fvck can point out this scam as organization. I am not knowing of one person that acquired a service or product from this company that could not be acquired cheaper somewhere else.

First off, I am in no way trying to make this personal. Your character is not what I questioned, it was simply the fact that you made the "need" argument. Use any of the logical decision making models to test out the scenarios that involve a needs based argument. You can apply it to any stage of retail or middle management and even down to simple production. People "need" very little to survive. I know you are not stupid. I have been around long enough to know that. I hope you don't think that is what I was implying. It wasn't. I was simply stating that supporting the morality of your argument based upon "need" is very subjective. So just to be clear, I was questioning the argument, not your character. It is difficult to convey this via a message board. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Working in the financial world didn't work for me either for a very similar reason. I could inadvertently give someone advice that could ruin their retirement. Any sale I make could effect them negatively. People are very passionate about their money, as they should be. I couldn't have that kind of weight on my conscience.

As a company, Primerica has tons of flaws. It also has many strengths, of which I have mentioned before. It isn't for everybody. Including myself. The inclusion of irrational illogical and non substantive claims and attacks against them, this no longer includes you btw, are nothing more than uninformed opinions. I don't want the OP to go in with a tainted opinion and this be just what he has been looking for his entire life and hinder his ability to succeed due to misinformation and general attacks. My intentions were good for both parties.

Why was their coverage bad? Who is "we." This is out of curiosity.

I think you have to pay upfront to join a franchise like McDonalds.
Or any franchise. Or any self started business. They also take a cut every period through the useful life of the business too. Although I despise it, I will have to pay to play again when I get done with school.

Do not do it. It takes money to make money, and you wont make hardly anything at first. Htey told me the same thing they told you prolly. But truth-be-told, when they say the more you work, the more you make....you need to call and bother people about their finances to lure in new customers. Telemarketing at its worst. I thought about it, and realized its bullsh!t.

I hated cold calling in the worst way. I hate those people. I tried it, just to create some leads, realized what I was becoming and went to warm leads only. Seemed to work better for me. The part I liked is it was up to you how you wanted to pursue it. You could be mortgage only if you wanted and still make plenty of cash. I knew a few people that were very successful using that method.
