Prime v.s. Punch

Right now I have 4 Kenwood KFC (2 6x9, 2 5 1/4) and I am getting either 1 12" Punch or 1 10" punch.

Here are my amp choices to the price I can get. Can 1 amp power everything above or do I need 2?

Punch 200 $99.99

Punch 300 $159.99

Prime R150 $61.99

Prime R300 $101.99

I was thinking about buying 2 R150's and running 1 to the 4 components and 1 to the sub mono, thoughts?

How about a single R300? You could run the 5 1/4's off of chanels 1-2, the sub off of bridged channels 3-4 and use the headunit for rear fill. You'll save a few bucks and simplify your installation. If you later find you want to expand your system say...adding an additional sub and a dedicated mono amp like the R500.1, you can use the R300 to run your 5 1/4's and 6x9's.

punch is the better product line. prime is geared for budget people.

if ur going with 1 amp i would suggest punch. if u want u would probably be fine with prime amp for the 6x9s and 5 1/4 then get a punch to make the sub sound best.

how much power are u needing total for it all? im sure we can find something else to power it all for fair price.

If I use 2 channels for a couple components, then 2 bridged for the sub, what kind of power are we talking? I mean I could get a lower rated sub to have decent sound.

I thought about a Fosgate R150 for the 4 components, then getting a Fosgate Prime R250 mono amp for the sub but a buddy of mine said that mono amp was no good, not sure if that is true.

Can anyone tell me the sound difference for harder rock bass with the following.

Alpine Type R

JL W3

Polk db

Polk mm

Fosgate P2

I would like to get 1 10" of the above and run it off a the Punch 300.1

Polk MM for SQ decent output

jl w3 for SQ with better output but imo wont have as good of SQ as the polk, but to be fair ive never heard w3 only w1

if u can afford it i would get a little better amp and go with polk mm1240 or mm1540 for a single sub setup. both want 425watts rms so just a bump above ur 300watts rms u got

well the punch is only rated at 300 rms @ 2 ohms and the r500 is rated at 500@ 2 ohms, so it has more output but the Punch is a higher series in Rockford's line so is probably a bettter amp but doesn't have the power you need if you want to run a type R

OK, if my heart is set on 1 12" Alpine Type R, what are you thoughts of running a RF Power T600 at it.

I just read that some were getting close to 800 W mono out of it. Would this damage the Type R or slam it?

I can get a new one for $210.00 that is why I am asking.
