Open box items are items that have been purchased before but never used. Or purchased but never installed. You may be able to purchase old stock items for dirt cheap as well. Most of the old stock items are usually let go at completely-unheard-of prices. Mentioned elsewhere, some shops have to throw away the old but still good equipment as they can't donate it due to manufacturer's restrictions.

Ok thanks alot! I'll see what I can do :-D

What's open box? How did Ology and Excelerater get those prices?
From a guy i know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

Oh and open box items kick ***. Especially when you can get em at cost with a 4 year warranty at next to nothing.

MAP is minimum advertisedrice, but its already set by them what they can go down to. he prices you got are MSRP, so some negotiation should be available. Keep in mind with them selling/installing the product you get 3 years warranty on the speakers and alifetime on the amps. Shop online, you get neither. Its a gamble, in which case I personally perfer Vegas for that.

They seem like a pretty decent shop, just try talking to them about the price, of course with minimal attitude. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Labor $1500?? is that just the total on the wrong line or is the labor really $1500?
Ya it says Labor + Install = $1500 is that a bad price? They are putting in four door speakers (tweeters on 2 doors) and making a rear deck for my free air 12s and putting the rear tweeters in the deck. Also they are wiring it up from the factory head unit (with an equalizer) and lastly putting the amps in the spare tire well with some plexi glass and red neons. Is that an unreasonable price?

How come your going to go free air? your going to have the subs mounted on a board facing up at the window? and are they going to completely seal your trunk?

I used to drive an A4 thats a pretty large trunk to act as a box for 2 12s...

That's actually what I have now but I think the install job was sub par so it doesn't sound that good (lower class shop and they didn't seal anything). The owner of the shop i'm going to recommended keeping the free air as he said it is a great way to get the sound in to the cabin on "these german cars". I'm going free air as I would not like to give up my trunk. I would like to be able to use as much of it as possible and use the fold down seats.

how long is this install supposed to take? $1500 seems like a lot for something basic, but so does $1500 + full retail on all the product. you should be able to get them to knock down the price on the product at least, considering you are not just buying a radio or something. dont be rude about it, but asking wont hurt will it?

They said they need the car about a week. They were working on an s4 at the time I was in and told me I could go look at it. I'll see if they can knock it down. I'll just tell them it's alot of $ and I really want them to do the work so is there some way they could knock it down a bit.

so you liked the work that they did to that s4, right? is there going to be fiberglassed used or something? how exactly will the install look? a week is a good amount of time, if they dont have much else going on.

yea, just say that you like there work and want them to do the install, but the price is a little more than you intended to spend and would appreciate it if they can help out a little. hopefully they are willing to budge on the prices of the product. maybe they qouted retail thinking that if you came back wanting the prices lowered, they have something to work off of. $6000 is a lot of money, be cautious with it (i say that you made a good first step by asking here about the prices).
