Anyone running this sub in a sealed enclosure? Mine is mounted in the back of an '06 Jeep Wrangler and powered by channels 3/4 of an Alpine PDX 4.150. I just can't seem to get this sub to hit hard enough in my soft topped Wrangler. I could use more output, slam and sub bass. I don't like boomy or muddy bass, but prefer that kick in the pants slam and accurate, musical bass. Any suggestions? Thanks!

How big of a box is it in? Which way is the sub facing. As far as more subbass, they only way I can think of achieving that would be to port it. Since you like more accurate music try porting to around 30hz.

The box is built to pioneer's optimum specs for a sealed encloser. I'd sat it's at least .75 cu ft. The woofer sits facing the tailgate of the Wrangler. I tried downfiring it with very little gain. There seems to be an emphasis on upper bass and the exteme lows roll off naturally. I'd like an all around player with real punch, speed and a pretty flat response from 80hz down. Using 5-1/4" components offers up little midbass and midrange fill.

my homeboy used to run 2 of em in a sealed enclosure but had 12's, they banged too, u might want to consider another amp maybe and build a ported enclosure like premiere said, and if u're that limited with space make it as big as u can possibly go n poly fill it cuz i have seen the space in the back of my brother in law's wrangler n there aint sheet

Another amp as in bigger?

I have the Wrangler Unlimited that is 15" longer than a standard Wrangler. Plenty of room...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I just assumed more people ran these subs as they are built to high standards IMHO.

yea u do have room, but y did u get that sub, u could have gotten this http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14924.... i bet it would hit harder and u have the room for it, just need another bigger amp like this http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16918 wire it parallel at 2 ohms and u will be sittin good i guarantee it. it will go good in that amount of space u have to offer
I was sold my current sub by the shop who installed it. Their reasoning was that it needed a very small enclosure and sounded good to boot. I do alot of camping with the Jeep and need all the space I can get. I've always tried to purchase top notch equipment and I'm not so sure the Kicker amp is in the same league as the Alpine PDX series. Looking at alot of member's systems here; I don't see a whole lot of Pioneer subs or Kicker amps being used for sound quality??? I've been out of car audio for so long that I have no clue what is hot these days. I'm not into screeching highs and walls of base. I do like bass that I can feel and bass that goes low. The shop I'm working with insist that I stay with a sealed enclosure to meet my expectations. Who knows??? Thanks for the help and those prices are excellent!
