i currently have a ppi phantom p1000.1 that appears to have crapped out on me. so i need to get a new amp, small physical size, 1kw-2kw @ 1 ohm. im also considering the massive audio amps, but would rather not spend over 200

i take good care of my stuff so im pretty unhappy that my current amp gave out, especially with the good reputation that the phantom gear has. although with that said, i am still considering just getting a new phantom 1000.

throw me some ideas, and dont try and sell me your used stuff;)

I have that same amp and i love it. Whats exactly wrong with yours?

I know when i was setting the gain(with an oscope) on mine it went into protect when it was starting to show clipping...

ive had it for a year or two, but recently it has sporadically gone into protect, it was then stuck in protect for like 2 weeks, i started to pull the speaker wire out and it went out of protect (the speaker wire wasnt removed just the terminal unscrewed) but now makes a faint electrical static type noise that my p900.4 doesnt make. it was out of protect but not playing music. then all of a sudden its working again, then its going into protect again.

all my connections are good, the sub is wired properly (dmm confirms this),

This is most likely the first P100.1 failure I've heard of. I can't recall any others, and I've definitely never had any come back to me. For the same budget and power range my options are this amp or the BK1300.1D. I could get the Massive N3, but right now I'm sure what kind of a price I can offer.

i actually almost pmed you asking about this, are you able to repair these amps?

im fairly certain the amp is damaged, because it never made that "electrical-static-type" noise before (to be clear this is emitting from the amp itself, not the sub thats connected to the amp). I bought the amp used from someone who i dont think took great care of it. In the end ill probably just buy a new one since it was good for my setup, i'm just not eager to buy the same amp again after one stopped working:(

how much does a problematic 1000w amp go for on these boards? anything?

I don't do any repairs. I wouldn't even know of a repair place that works on these boards. If I were to call around I'd start with dB-R. Honestly, for the money to get a new one I would just sell this one as-is or write it off as a loss and get a new amp.
