ppi pc2350 vs modern class d of same wattage.

i want to get a pc2350 to match my other ppi's. how would it stack up compared to a modern sub amp besides the obvious (Current Draw)?

Ive spent the better part of the last 3 years experimenting with almost every high end subwoofer amp. From class A/B, G/H, T, D, "DE" so on and so on...I ran every amp to my IDMAX 12's which I had in a sealed box.

My conclusion...

I like the A/B amps the most, they sound the best to me, but current draw is the ONLY downside..

Some class D's were better than others

The reason I have stuck with my JBL BPX2200.1 was because it sounded just like the A/B amps, but its current draw was less than that of some of the other class D's.

So, that being said I would stick with the 2350 if you can deal with the current draw, or you can find a 2200.1

whoa! its not a misprint!! it does more at 4 ohm than it does at 1 ohm. WOW! thats cool.

I didn't realize the BPX amplifiers were 2 channels until I pulled up the user's manual.

According to the manual you are looking at the following power ratings:

1100W x 2 at 2 ohms

2200W x 1 at 4 ohms

2200W x 1 at 1 ohm in Parallel mode

EDIT: I am going to have to somewhat disagree with rc10mike under certain circumstances. I've used a Crossfire BMF1000d (Class D); a Clarion DPX1851 (Class GH), a Lunar L2125 (Class AB) all on a 13w6v2 in my Mustang. I noted no significant hits in sound quality going from between the various amplifiers, regardless of class.

Now that I have a calibrated microphone and TrueRTA, I guess I could repeat this test with my remaining amplifiers to see if there is any difference in output characteristics between the differing amplifier classes. Unfortunately, it won't be a lab environment, but, I can set each amplifier to give me a predefined output at a specific volume level.
