PPi frx 456 help

Ok so Im having a little bit of trouble understanding this... "Attenuation - Push this switch in to accept high level RCA inputs (up to 8v)". Thats pretty straight foward what Im having trouble with is... what is considered "high level"? My hu puts out a claimed "4v" should I "push this switch" and if I do should I adjust the gains on my amps. right now my amps are set to 4v and the switch is not pushed in. it sounds good but would attenuating the input make a difference?
