Well hooked it up, was setting crossovers/gains by ear(which is what i usually do so my highs don't make me deaf...) Bout 5 mins in speakers start making screeching noises and i walk to back of car to see amp smoking.. Looks likes some resistors decided to take their life... Whatever it was it actually made my sub amp go into protect.. I assume it was sending **** back out through the RCA's. Please excuse pic Quality..
Better question is why the hell did it happen.. It was brand new..
The resistors were probably on Anti-Depressants which studies show are heavily linked to suicides.
@Spooney ;
I have no idea.

I hope this isn't common with PPI.........

.........I got the bk1800.1D //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Isn't it possible to replace the resistor at home? Get the same resistor, snip the old one out and solder the new one in place..........correct?

which PPI series is this from b/c I'm about to install some PPI amps.
The Phantom series.

I have the P1000.1 and the P600.2 running since last summer and they are going strong with no problems.'

Where did you buy it from OP?

What is your electrical like? How were you setting gains? What voltage were you at, at the amps terminals? Bad eggs happen, but amps don't usually blow for no reason.

Start the exchange process. If it's a seller buying PPI through official channels that seems like a warranty claim. I've never had a customer with a blown Phantom amp, and I sell a lot of them.
