PPI 600.4 Shutdown

I noticed my Precision Power Amp came loose from the mount in my trunk probably from a loose screw or improper install. It was kind of hanging at an angle. Didn't think anything of it. Planned to get it fixed following day. I was driving and suddenly heard what sounded like short loud circuiting/clipping. Amp shutdown completely. I have no power going to Focal fronts or Sub. Tech guy looked at it and said amp will not power-up and some short protection or detection blinking light was flashing. Now I may have to send out for repair.

Could someone please tell me what the hell happened? Is this serious?

I just had this new system installed 2 weeks ago.

Zach...Thanks for responding.

No, I don't recall smelling any smoke.

I am basically a newb at this so I did not know to check the fuses. Not sure the technician checked either. What does this blinking light mean on the DCX ppi amps? I thought there was a fail safe protection measure if the amp was about to blow by automatically shutting down? Short Detection or Protection light was blinking. Is there a check list of problems I can ask the technician to look at? Does this mean the amp is shot? I would hate to send this out to DEI if I don't have to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Thanks for the help

Do you have to pay every time the technician looks at it? You can probably diagnose the problem yourself, with help from members here. Check all of your fuses, including those in the amp, if it has fuses in it. I know several people on here run ppi, one of them should come around to answer you about the blinking light.

No, I dont have to pay every time the technician looks at it. I think what bothers me is that I don't think this tech has expereince with ppi amps.

I hope others on here will be able to help. I need some ideas to go back to this guy and say I want you to check all this stuff before I send to DEI. While I am definitely not an expert with ppi, it just seems to me that if you overload something, and the system shuts down, don't you simply press some button to reset. This amp is very solid and very heavy. Built like a M1 Abrams Battle Tank.

Thanks

Cheers
