Powering Crossfire BMF's

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out with a setup question.

I have 2 Crossfire 2000D's (not the VR ones.....the previous generation) and I want to run each one to a 15" BMF 2.4 dvc. Will this destroy the subs? I used to run each 2000D into 4 BMF 10" 's, but with my new ride, space is at a premium and I am not going to be building another wall.

Sorry if this question is ridiculous, but I have been out of the whole dB drag scene since 2002 and I finally felt like using all of this equipment that has been sitting around all of these years.

Thanks, and let me know if you need any more details from me.

okay go here http://www.crossfirecaraudio.com/frameset.asp and whats the exact model number you have?
Ha. All of my stuff is no longer even on there.

Sub: 15" Crossfire BMF Dual 2.4 ohm W15DM (bought in 2002)

Amp: Crossfire 2000D (looks like the old tek amps)

I worked at a stereo shop (go figure......I have subsequently lost any knowledge I once had) and we worked out a deal with a crossfire rep to make a demo vehicle (this happened to be my daily driver). I think they gave us the 2000d's for like $300 and they might have been pre-production because I have never seen anyone else that has the old style like I do. I would post a picture, but the ol' digital camera is on the fritz.

AHHHH okay then, i didn't no they made another sub with dual 2.4 ohm, either way you can wire the subs to get a higher impedance...... that way those subs shouldn't have a problem off those amps ( just be gentle with the gain )

What if I wanted to wire them in parallel to get a 1.2 ohm load? I know the amp could handle it (as I have the battery power), but I am not sure how much that sub could take. It is not anywhere as robust as the xt's.

Would I be better off throwing 4 or 8-10" 's in and trying to make it fit? Again the 10's I have are the old model BMF's but they are dual 4 ohm.

Oh, and am I right about the amp being a pre-production? That is, have you ever seen a 2000d that had the old styling?

Thanks for the help by the way!

Yep sure do, have seen a few go up in smoke ( hence catchfire) there pritty bad for current draw, but they are usually underated so make more than stated rms power. i actually prefer the older style crossfire products.
