Powering a Fosgate P2 or P3?

I am getting a great deal on a Punch 300.1 amp and have decided to get 1 12" RF sub for my trunk.

I can get a RF P2 12 for $98.00 or a P3 12 for $149.99.

Will the Punch 300.1 power either one well?

Also, is it true that since I listen to rock/metal music only that 1 sub is best?

the punch 300.1 amp will power the 12" RF p2 best because its rated at 250 so a little more power will be good for it. the p3 is wanting 500 and 300 will be weak. not saying u cant do it but i wouldnt pay the extra money if ur not going to use the subs full potential.

i have 2 subs and they sound great with metal but they are SQ subs where RF is not that great in that category

I had a punch 300 at one point and it's birthsheet was around 450 so i'd get the p3.

If you will stray from rockford then definitely more SQ

If u have not heard a good SQ subwoofer before u probably wont even notice its bad. i had some rockford p2s and i was amazed at the output. then i got my polks and i wont buy RF again.

Can you point me in the direction of a Polk 12 that will match up with a Punch 300 and hit as hard for rock as a P2?

this sub will hit harder than the p2 IMO plus its a 15"

Im not sure how the Polk Audio MM1240 will compare as far as output over the p2. i know i would take the polk because it will have WAY better SQ.

Maybe someone else can chime in on which would have more output the mm1240 or the p2.

You shouldn't limit yourself to Polk subs....and you shouldn't be using a Rockford Fosgate P2 as a measuring stick.

There are plenty of subs that put both to shame...

Okay ill recommend subs ive never heard and ill also ignore my real life experience of subs that i have heard in real life and disregard those.

well i dont want to recommend something bad but OP check this link where people who have the polk mm series subs, some have 8, 10, 12, no one has said anything about the 15" yet though but they all have good stuff to say.
