I would reccomend buying used if your tight on money. And building a box yourself.

I have a L7 10" D2 and a memphis prd.500 (class d 500 watts rms) I am selling for 200 + ship. Would suit you well. I could make you a box diagram and cut sheet if you wanted.

Never used the powered units.

ehh id stay away from the powered systems as well. go ahead and look for a strong 10 and stuff on the forums and locally with a good amp to power it. build yourself a box to fit and have fun with it.
