Powered, Grounded, but Unit is Not Working

Hi,

I recently bought a cheap car stereo from Wal-Mart. I just needed something with an Aux jack for a Zune. I got the Pioneer MP2000 and am installing it in a 1994 Honda Accord. I have installed two units before, but I am nowhere near knowledgeable about installation. I got a wiring harness from Crutchfield and attached all of the wires to the unit's wiring harness. With my meter, I tested the continuity of the ground (black wire) to the chasis, and am getting power through the yellow wire. I am also getting power to the red ACC wire. I tested the contacts on the plug that plugs into the back of the unit, so the wiring harness is wired correctly. I checked the radio fuse in the car and the fuse on the back of the radio. Both are good.

The problem is that the unit will not turn on when plugged in. I exchanged the unit, thinking it might be defective, but the "new" unit doesn't turn on either. I say "new" because it is Wal-mart and I was thinking that there might a possibility that it is defective, too. Is there any reason that the unit would not work if I am getting power to the yellow wire, the ground is grounded, and the fuse in the back of the unit is fine? Is there anything else I can check to determine if the unit is bad?

try this

make sure the wire is fused first!!

twist the red and yellow wires toghter

pop the hood

put the ground wire on the ground of the battery

and the red/yellow on the positive side

i it works like that the problem is somewhere else

maybe a fuse you didnt see?

Thank you for the suggestion. What do you mean to make sure that the wire is fused first? To have a fuse in between the battery and red/yellow wire?

No need for a fuse, just hook it up to the battery.

Red + yellow to POS

Black to NEG
