One fine day about a week ago i was driving down the road in my ferd explorer listening to some TI. Now my setup at that particular time was 1 PowerBass C-sql 15" driver in a 1.5^3ft. sealed box, the sub was mounted inverted, driven by an Ample Audio A226x (350Wr.m.s.@12v). The subs max rating is 800W. Well, i was feelin pretty good about my system so i decided to turn up the volume, mind you before that i've never gone beyond 20 on they volume knob. Well i turned it up to 25-26 and it was playin Loud, i mean, it was rattling things i didnt even know could move. Well after maybe 30secs to a min. my x filled up with smoke COMPLETELY. Upon later review my coil had been completely fried. WTF PB HAS ******** RATINGS AND i wouldnt doubt that their products are made by kids in sweatshops in china. Piece of ****, well now i'm down 100 bucks. So overall i would recommend this driver to anyone who wants a banging woofer.

Regardless of whether it was clipping or not, it couldnt have produced enough power to kill the sub. But no i dont believe it was clipping.

o, the sub is sposed to get maxed out at 800W. But even if they signal clipped i dont think that it could have produced enough power to blow my p.o.s.

It's rated at 400 RMS and your amp is rated @ 350 RMS with 12 volts (which means much more under normal use) ...

350*14/12 = 408 RMS ... Then throw in the fact that the amp may be underrated ... And the fact that you probably couldn't hear slight clipping ...

Exactly what I was thinking, glad you typed it out, I didnt want to be the one to. Also, there was no distortion correct?

I don't think you should be saying certain products **** when they were damaged by user error.

I agree. I think this was maybe more so user error. I had a American Pro amp on my 12" HC when I first got it. Clipping jacked it up a couple of times. Luckily the tinsel lead just came away from the terminal so all I had to do was solder it back on. Now I'm running it on a Visonik V900XD at 1-ohm and not one problem.

Underpowering a sub does not ensure anything.

Amazing what we learn on our own.
